Quarterly Coalition Meeting- Session 3

by | Aug 2, 2019 | News

Please join us for our 3rd session in our Quarterly Coalition Meeting Series!  This year’s theme is Crucial Conversations: Maternal Health; “Do You Really Listen?” This year we are focusing on maternal health and how racial inequities directly affect the health of women.

Women’s Health and Health Equity in Policy and Practice

Guest Speaker: Sue Kendig

Maternal health is directly related to infant vitality.  Unfortunately, the disparities we see in infant outcomes affect their mothers as well.  Just as black infants are dying at a rate 3 times that of white infants, their mothers are experiencing similar outcomes. Generate Health and our partners are doing tremendous work toward the goal of eliminating these disparities and creating a system that works equally well for everyone. This presentation will briefly discuss issues affecting maternal health and provide a snapshot of national and state efforts to improve maternal health through an equity lens.   Alignment of these larger efforts to support local initiatives will be discussed.
