The State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides health insurance for low-income children and pregnant women that have no health insurance and are not eligible for Medicaid. The Affordable Care Act, extended CHIP through 2019 but it is only funded until September 1, 2015. Congress needs to act in order to ensure that CHIP continues to provide insurance coverage for low-income children in our state.
