Generate Health and St. Louis Center for Family Development, LLC are excited to offer an exciting opportunity to improve the care for women across the region. Generate Health has made it a priority to enhance the quality of care for women in our region and as a result, STLCFD has developed the following program:
Organizational Leadership Academy for Trauma Informed Care 2018
With funding from MHB, Generate Health and St. Louis Center for Family Development have partnered to provide the Leadership Academy for Trauma Informed Care. This is an exciting opportunity for creating trauma-informed organizations in order to improve the care women receive. Organizational leaders will learn about trauma-informed care in a one day didactic training session, and participate in six monthly consultation meetings to learn from one another and garner support for the implementation of this paradigm shift. The goal of the training is to help support leaders in moving toward a trauma informed approach.
Communities across the nation are beginning to realize the impact of trauma on our well-being. Trauma has now become a public health priority. While the research is quick to identify the potential negative outcomes on physical and mental health, academic performance, substance use, occupational achievement, child maltreatment, community violence, relational challenges, and lower socioeconomic status, we are learning that promoting resilience and using a trauma-informed approach help to mitigate the impact, enhance outcomes, and support healthier organizational cultures. The societal costs of unaddressed trauma are high. The state of Missouri, Kansas City, and St. Louis with Alive & Well are committed to providing leadership in becoming trauma informed by training human service providers, promoting skill development, and designing services to focus on historical trauma and minimize re-traumatization.
The Leadership Academy for Trauma Informed Care supports organizations seeking to deepen their knowledge and development of a plan to further implementation of trauma informed practices.
